Women’s Self Defence Centre (WSDC)

An initiative by Akshay Kumar, established in the aftermath of the Nirbhaya rape case, with the mission of empowering girls and women through self-defence training.

The initiative was founded by Akshay Kumar in collaboration with Mehul Vora, a 9th Dan Red Belt (Japan) martial artist. The program is led by Sensei Megha Vora, who serves as the Head Coach of WSDC.

The Mumbai and Thane centres received crucial support from Shri Aditya Thackeray, enabling WSDC to secure training facilities through the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC).

Under the leadership of Sensei Megha Vora, WSDC has developed a structured curriculum blending martial arts, close combat, and situational awareness. With decades of experience, she leads a team of expert female instructors across all centres.
